Kevin Murray ran his first ever marathon on 5th April to raise money for Abbeyfield in thanks for the care his Grandad received at the Bootle & Litherland Abbeyfield house on Merseyside.
Competing in the Blackpool Asics marathon Kevin ran the twenty six miles in a very creditable 4 hours 24 minutes, raising £1,015 which is over his £1000 target. With over £230 gift aid, the final amount will be well over his target. Speaking after the race Kevin said "While the run was tough, it was an absolute pleasure to raise money for Abbeyfield, to say thanks for how well they looked after my Grandad."
Kevin found that his fundraising was made particularly easy by using the
www.justgiving.com website where it’s simple to set up a page for your friends and supporters to sponsor you. You can see Kevin’s page at www.justgiving.com/kevinmurrayblackpoolmarathon or just check out www.justgiving.com to set up a page to raise money for Abbeyfield yourself.
