BBC antiques expert Mark Stacey, helped volunteers and visitors raise £1000 for Abbeyfield residents at an event at Bringeman House, Wilbury Road, Hove.
The celebrity auctioneer tempted bids from a crowd of over 100, while delicious cakes and bric a brac stalls also drew good business. Patron Lorraine Kelly donated a copy of her book for the raffle.
The Eve Appeal, a gynaecology research fund, teamed up with the Abbeyfield Brighton and Hove Society for the event.
Malcolm Paris, Chairman of the Society said:
"It was a brilliant day and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the money raised. Everybody worked very hard for our residents.”
The money will be used to fund a day out for residents of the 4 Abbeyfield houses in Brighton and Hove.
