Abbeyfield Mid-Sussex merges with the Abbeyfield Society

The Abbeyfield Society is delighted to announce that the operational control of Westall House in Horsted Keynes and Abbeyfield House in Forest Row, has now passed from the Abbeyfield Mid-Sussex Society to The Abbeyfield Society and will be in place from 29th January 2010.

Paul Allen, CEO of The Abbeyfield Society says “I am delighted that we have assumed responsibility for the direct running of Westall House and Forest Row centrally at Abbeyfield. Our aim will be to carry on the long tradition of providing care and accommodation so ably carried out by the Abbeyfield Mid-Sussex Society, to continue to foster a relaxed and family atmosphere and to provide our residents with the physical and emotional support they need. Our thanks go to the trustees of the Mid-Sussex Society for all their hard work and dedication over the years and as an organisation we will continue to remain committed to helping residents live independently, reducing isolation and working with volunteers.”

Andrew Ronaldson, Chairman of The Abbeyfield Mid-Sussex Society says "We looked hard at how best we could carry forward our high standard of care to the next generation of elderly residents. A larger partner was essential, but a compatible ethos was the prime consideration. No one could match the values and creativity of The Abbeyfield Society. Our residents will continue to be in safe and caring hands as our parent organisation shapes future offerings."

Westall House stands in two acres of delightful gardens on the edge of Horsted Keynes, a picturesque village on the border of East and West Sussex in the tranquil mid-Sussex countryside which is home to the Bluebell Railway and an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The complex includes a 21 bedroom Registered Residential Care Home and 16 self-contained bungalows providing Very Sheltered Housing for older people. Abbeyfield House, in Forest Row provides seven elderly people with sheltered e- suite bed-sitting accommodation. It is within easy walking distance of the village's picturesque centre and some 15-20 minutes by car from Westall House across the Ashdown Forest.
