Abbeyfield Christmas Carol Service

Abbeyfield held a very successful fundraising Christmas Carol Service at St Michael’s Church, Chester Square, Belgravia, London at 7pm on the 14th of December.

It was a fabulous Christmassy evening attended by over 250 people with traditional carols, wine and mince pies and some entertaining readings from Abbeyfield patrons Geoffrey Palmer and Richard Baker – plus performances from the marvellous South Downs Singers.

Abbeyfield were very grateful for the assistance of a group of school boys from St Albans who helped to ensure the evening ran smoothly. They were Tom Burman, Dan Brown, Theo Deurloo, Sam Kellard and Josh Wainwright from Verulam School as well as Tom Walden-Levy from Beaumont School and Matthew Harrison from St Albans Boys School. Tom also did a reading and the group were able to meet Geoffrey Palmer.

Geoffrey Palmer who is a patron of the Abbeyfield Society said "The Abbeyfield carol service was a wonderful occasion and it was good to see some of our residents amongst the congregation and the boys from St Albans helping. Christmas can be a miserable time if you are old and alone and the lovely time everyone has had tonight is, I think, a good reflection of the happy times our residents are having together at Abbeyfield houses across the country this Christmas."

If you would like to contribute and were not able to come along on the night please contact Brian Deex on 01727 734095 or email b.deex@abbeyfield.com

The Abbeyfield Christmas Carol Service was a tremendous success and will hopefully turn into an annual event!
