Downing House, Abbeyfield’s care home at Withington on the outskirts of Manchester, has been rated “Excellent” by the industry regulator the Care Quality Commission.
The inspector from the Commission carried out an unannounced inspection in November. During the visit he talked to residents, relatives, staff and the home’s manager, Debbie McCormick. He also looked at documents and records such as care plans, medication records, written policies and other records the home has to keep.
“Residents at the home were being cared for and supported well” “the house manager Debbie McCormick was very effective and approachable and managed the home in the best interests of the residents” were two of the comments he made in his report. The report also included quotes from residents including one who said “the staff are very helpful and friendly” and another who said “I am very happy here”.
Abbeyfield’s Director of Care Helena Little who was delighted with the “Excellent” Rating for Downing House said “This is thoroughly well deserved. Congratulations to all involved”.
