Abbeyfield will be developing a new 'extra care' scheme in the sought after Hampton Lane area of Solihull in the West Midlands.
The development will offer 32 one and two bedroom apartments together with guest suites, a manager's office, wheelchair and buggy stores, treatment and hairdressing rooms, a quiet / counselling room, laundry facilities, communal garden facilities and a kiosk for residents to buy essential goods from.
There will also be a large communal lounge and dining area for residents to enjoy social activities.
Working closely with the local authority, around 50% of the units will be offered on a shared ownership and market rent basis, with the remaining units to be let on an affordable rent.
The Abbeyfield Board approved the scheme in November 2009 and continue to negotiate social housing grant funding with the Homes and Communities Agency.
Planning permission has been granted and it is expected that we will start on site in 2010 with the first residents expected to move in during the spring of 2011.
