Abbeyfield will be developing a new Independent Living 'extra care' scheme in the sought after Hampton Lane area of Solihull in the West Midlands.
The development will offer 32 one and two bedroom apartments together with guest suites, a manager's office, wheelchair and buggy stores, treatment and hairdressing rooms, assisted bathroom, a quiet / counselling room, laundry facilities, attractive landscape communal garden and a kiosk for residents to buy essential goods from.
There will also be a large communal lounge and dining area for residents to enjoy social activities.
Working closely with the local authority, around 25% of the units will be offered on a shared ownership and affordable rent basis.
The Abbeyfield Board approved the scheme in November 2009 and have recently negotiated adequate grant funding to enable a start on site.
Planning permission has been granted and the contractor started on site in March 2011 and completion of the build programme is for September 2012.
