Dare Devil Octogenarian takes the plunge for Abbeyfield

Abbeyfield resident Frank Jarvis is fulfilling a life long dream on 22nd August – a 12,000 foot sky dive!

The 80 year old retired aerospace instrument technician, a resident at Abbeyfield in Tewkesbury, has been pronounced fit and able for the challenge and is raring to go.  His aim whilst fulfilling his ambition is to raise money for Abbeyfield.  Frank says “I’ve always wanted to do a parachute jump having worked with and been in aircraft all my working life and thought that if I did it for Abbeyfield it would be helpful too. I also want to show that there’s life and enthusiasm in lots of us at our age - my next ambition to be fulfilled is to take a trip on a submarine – under the surface of course!”

Frank’s jump, a tandem with a member of the elite military Silver Stars parachute team, includes a 7,000 foot freefall followed by an acrobatic 5000 ft descent down after his parachute has opened. It takes place at a military base near Cirencester in Gloucestershire and Abbeyfield volunteers and residents will be there to cheer him on.

If you would like to sponsor Frank Jarvis’s fantastic  free fall for Abbeyfield you can do so on line at his page at  http://www.justgiving.com/daredevilFrank/. If you don’t want to sponsor online, but would still like to support Frank and his efforts for Abbeyfield, then send a donation in Frank’s name but made out to the Abbeyfield Society to Brian Deex, The Abbeyfield Society, 53 Victoria Street, St Albans, AL1 3UW.  It would be great if you would include your name and address as Brian can then send you a gift aid form for us to claim gift aid which would add 30% to your donation.
