Browns Field House is going for gold in The Great British Care Awards Final

Having won the regional final of ‘Best Care Team’ at the Great British Care Awards in March, Registered Care Manager Marsha Tuffin and Sally Smith, Deputy Manager of Abbeyfield’s Browns Field House, part of a nationwide charity providing housing support and care for older people in Cambridge, are setting off on 5 May 2010 to compete in the Great British Care Awards’ finals in London.

The two, who represent a 25-strong care team based in Sherborne Close, Cambridge, are competing against seven other regional finalists. They will all face a tough judging panel who will decide whether they will be the national winners at a London gala dinner on 5 June 2010 hosted by Fiona Phillips, ex GMTV presenter.

The Cambridge team, who look after 26 residents suffering from dementia, are crossing fingers that they can bring home the silverware after narrowly missing out last year. Marsha Tuffin said: “We’re really proud to have made it this far. The team really do go above and beyond the call of duty on a daily basis to provide the best care for the residents and it would be brilliant if they were recognised for it."

There are a total of fifteen award categories in the Great British Care Awards, representing all areas of the care home sector.
