A recent inspection by the Care Commission Scotland of Abbeyfield Ballachulish earned the care home six "excellent" and two "very good" grades. The care home, based at Ballachulish, had previously been named among the top 25 homes in Scotland by a national newspaper.
The latest report has delighted both the trustees and staff as Abbeyfield strives to maintain its exalted national position.
The closure of Glencoe Hospital earlier in the year, with the consequent internal building work that was required to accommodate the additional places, created some challenges in maintaining the continuity of service at Abbeyfield Ballachulish.
Despite this the home has continued to excel. Manager Wilma Allen said "I'm delighted that all the hard work of the staff has been rewarded. These gradings are the result of the dedication of staff, the support of clients and their families and the successful partnership with the Highland Council and NHS Highland."
"This support and these partnerships has allowed us to provide services to the wider community. We now not only run residential and nursing care services, but also day care services, Care at Home services, housing support and a daily lunch club. These are all part of everyday living at Abbeyfield, offering support and social involvement to over 60 people a day."
